In elementary art, an emphasis is placed on igniting awareness of different periods, movements, and styles of art around the world. Students develop an understanding of the elements of art and how to utilize them successfully in their artwork. Students are informed about various careers in art, in addition to exploring a variety of media and artistic techniques. Students utilize various clay techniques to sculpt 3D forms while discovering the properties of clay throughout the process. Assessment is nurtured through self-reflection and peer reviews. A growth mindset is valued, and mistakes are encouraged to help students develop an appreciation of art.
