Art

Our society relies on the ARTS more than many people realize. The arts surround us. Our clothing, cars and homes reflect complex and expressive design. Businesses depend on creative solutions in today's economy to sell their products and services. Not everyone grows up to be an artist, but we all live and work in a world surrounded by and influenced by the arts.

In the elementary school, art class provides a unique time for students to truly experience creative problem solving and expression. Far more than simply a "drawing class," we work with everything ranging from clay to crayons, from laptops to rubber fish. We study the works of famous artists and their historical backgrounds. We use technology to create new kinds of art. We build and develop our skills and knowledge during the journey from third to fifth grade.

"Every child is an artist; the problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up." - Pablo Picasso
